Basement Waterproofing Cost in Des Moines (2026)

Cost guides do not publish Des Moines-only prices, so this page works through national ranges from Fixr, This Old House and HomeGuide on example basements. A local provider prices the job after an inspection.
The overall range. Fixr puts most basement waterproofing jobs between $3,000 and $10,000, about $5,000 on average (February 2026). This Old House lists interior systems near $3,000 and exterior systems at $7,000 or more (March 2026).
One wet wall in an older city home. A 28-foot wall with interior drain tile at $40 to $120 per foot comes to about $1,100 to $3,400, plus a new pit and pump at $800 to $2,000: roughly $1,900 to $5,400.
A full loop. A 28-by-36 basement has 128 feet of wall, or about $5,100 to $15,400 for the drain alone at the same rates.
A newer suburban home with a busy pump. Replacing a worn pump runs $350 to $1,000, and adding a battery backup to an existing setup $150 to $250 (Fixr, January 2025). Extending downspouts and fixing settled backfill often cost less still.
Radon on top. If a radon test is high, HomeGuide lists a mitigation system at $1,200 to $2,000 (2026). Doing it right after drain tile work lets the provider seal the new floor strip and the sump lid as part of one plan.
Getting comparable quotes. Ask each provider for the same items: linear feet, pump model, discharge route, floor patching, permits and warranty. Prices that look far apart often cover different scopes.
